Mission and Outreach
Sharing our Time, Talent and Treasure

Trinity has a tradition of a very strong and active outreach ministry that provides both monetary and hands-on support to the community and beyond. The Mission and Outreach committee plans and coordinates these efforts throughout the year. Trinity supports numerous local agencies and several organizations in the state of Virginia. Trinitarians actively participate in hands-on efforts at the OASIS Soup Kitchen where meals are prepared and served; in the Portsmouth Area Resource Coalition (P.A.R.C.) Walk for Hope to provide P.A.R.C with financial resources for good works; in the Children’s Christmas Shop where children ages 3 to 10 can buy Christmas gifts for their family with the proceeds going to the Portsmouth Community, in the SHARE food Co-op where families can buy $30 worth of food for under $15, and at Thanksgiving and Christmas when food and gift baskets are provided. We also participate in the Jeremiah After School Project, which provides homework assistance and mentoring support to local children. Trinity was one of three downtown churches to begin a sheltering program in 1991. Today, Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless, a non-profit corporation, coordinates area houses of worship to shelter homeless men and women every night between November and mid-April.
