THE BROTHERHOOD OF ST. ANDREW
Trinity’s chapter of The Brotherhood of St. Andrew was re-established in 2006, after a hiatus of 80-90 years. Bishop Vache's book concerning the history of Trinity, mentions the Brotherhood doing good works, in the 1890s, but no further mention is made. In fact at our re-inception, the national BSt.A allowed us to retain our original charter number (034). Since the individual charter numbers were originally issued in order, it can be understood that Trinity's chapter was among the very first chapters of this order, which had its start in the 1880s in Chicago.
This chapter currently has 12 members is led by Brother Bob Hunt. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30PM to have dinner (cooked by a brother), Bible Study and a short business meeting. Our meetings normally end by 8:15PM. Father Howard Hanchey joins us, sometimes leading the Bible study, and always leading us with enthusiasm. The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is a growing group of dedicated men, always reaching out to our community and focused on our mission of bringing men and youth to Christ.
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew provides a great service to the church by supplying many hours of volunteer work doing small repairs around the church and the rectory. In 2007, we completed approximately 80 repairs, renovations, or tasks. We work closely with the Junior Warden, in coordinating what needs to be done and when. The Brotherhood of St.Andrew, provides the cooks for several of Trinity's dinners throughout the year, culminating with the fabulous evening of song and dance put on by the choir, each year in May or June. This evening, called the Cabaret, is always a sold out event and raises money for the choir.
