Backpack Ministry for Tyler Elementary
Trinity is working with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia to provide food for children who might not otherwise eat on the weekends.  Join us for an hour or so once a month to make a difference for children right here in Portsmouth.  Meet at 8:30 a.m. (or as close to it as you can) in the parish hall and help us fill the bags with food provided by the FoodBank, purchased with mission and outreach dollars. 2018 Boys Home Mission Trip
Looking for a summer adventure? How about a get away to the Blue Ridge Mountains? Freedom from the daily grind of Tidewater, trading traffic, noise and repetitive drives for cool mountain nights, fresh mountain air, fields full of wild flowers, deer, rabbits, horses and a bunch of smiling boys - happy to learn from you and work alongside you doing light manual repair work around the property and farm buildings etc. The boys may even challenge those younger to a game of soccer.... the boys are pretty good at sports.
All parish members and their guest are welcome to come and support the Boys Home of Virginia in a light work program with plenty of time off for meals, games, and social activity with the boys. Siestas are allowed, too. Dates are from Sunday afternoon 10 June - Saturday 16 June. Only criteria are that all should be 19 years young; women, men, young people are all welcome - no task will be beyond anyone's comfort level. A small fee of $100.00 per person to cover food, utility consumption is requested.
Please give this serious consideration - perhaps college students, young adults would get the most out of this adventure -  but if you're like me (one foot under the grass line) the interactions with the young men of the Boys Home is rewarding, and God's simple gifts of the mountain air and beautiful surrounds refreshes the soul. If interested, please sign up with the church office; should you have any questions please let the office or me know and I'll make sure you receive a response.
