Announcements for Sunday, July 5, 2009

WE WELCOME the rev. JULIA DORSEY LOOMIS, our guest preacher at both services this morning.

welcome and thank you to Lucile Wiley, our guest organist today. Stephen Kolb will return next Sunday.

ago event: Trinity is delighted to be selected as one of the venues for the American Guild of Organists Region III 2009 Convention. Wednesday, July 8, at 9:00 am, we are hosting a recital featuring several local organists and other musicians. All are welcome; admission is free. Thank you, in advance, to those who have volunteered to serve as ushers!

Mark your calendars for the Annual Crab Feast, Saturday, July 25, 3:00 PM, at the home of Judy Leach, 2227 Firman Street, Chesapeake (485-9041). Everyone’s invited to come and share in the seafood and the fellowship. Please bring a dish of some sort, salad or dessert, and whatever you would like to drink. Iced tea will be provided. Cost of crabs will be divided among those at the feast. You might want to bring a lawn chair, too. A sign-up sheet and directions will be posted soon in the Parish House.

Vacation Bible School will be held August 3-7 (please note date change!), from 9 am to 1 pm, at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 3300 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth. If you are interested in helping out, or you have children to register, e-mail Dani Ballinger at formation@trinity-portsmouth.org, or call the Church office. All are welcome at a planning meeting Wednesday, July 8, at 6:30 pm, at St. Christopher’s.

pastoral care corner – For the benefit of those who find walking from their car to church, and back again, a challenge on Sunday mornings, there is a wheelchair, donated by Frank Kirby, in the church that you are welcome to use. Just see an usher for assistance.

IMPORTANT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY – Each year in June, the churches of the Diocese are asked to select a delegation to represent them at Diocesan Council in February and any other called events for the next year. Sue Everett and Martha Frances Fortson will be our delegates for 2009-10. We would like to have two alternates to attend Council as well and to vote if, for some reason, a delegate(s) is unable to. If you are interested, please speak to a Vestry member. The delegation will be finalized at the next Vestry meeting on Wednesday, July 15.
